Although I'm not the most talkative one (usually), sometimes people want me to talk about subjects they (all mistakenly, usually) have the impression I should be capable of talking about. These days it happens that they ask me to tell them about the "Semantic Web" - whatever that may be.

So here are the next two scheduled talks related to that dodgy topic:

• In the Internet Efficiency Club TechTalks series: «A Semantic Web Reconnaissance Flight» , March 7 at the Zunfthaus zur Schmiden, Zürich (in German).
• In the "Library Science Talks series (programme), a talk on some work started while at DERI, the «Ontologizing Wikipedia» stuff. September 11 in Geneva at CERN (in English), and on September 12 in Berne at the Swiss National Library (in German).

Both of these are semi-public, AFAIK, so if you ask the organizers kindly enough there shouldn't be any problem getting in.

So, the thing is this: What you see above is my Bern office (map) - private office, company headquarters still remains in Fribourg. It's a joint office shared by a couple of architects (bricks and mortar, not software), among them yel and gim.

Will be interesting to see what I can learn from them (à la Alexander), but the actual reason I took lodgings with them is that I needed some quiet place without phones, coworkers, customers and all that in order to pursue all those non-commercial endeavour I'm involved in.

First and foremost, I'm here in order to finally getting done with those degrees, writing those last papers needed for leaving being done with university (for the moment). On one hand I'm following the road to Ontologizing Wikipedia, on the other there's a paper for Charles Martig wanting to be written on Metafictional Aspects in Lars von Trier's works .. And then of course there's ArtCast, which has to take up speed again too, and then there's those people who want me to give (not yet announceable) speeches here and there - lots of output to generate, and that's was this place is meant for.

Works out pretty nicely so far, the plan is to be done with the university stuff in about 3 months, should be doable. Wish me luck and discipline - and be invited to come visit me when you're in the area :)

I'm currently at «LIFT06, conference about new technologies and people.» - what a nice simple title, and a what a promising event so far - beats Tweakfest by a couple of lenghts, no doubt about that.

More soon, radio silence is definitely over.

Addendum: I'm not going to blog about this conference too much, it's really well done and quite a bit classy, but I still can't really cope with all that chatter: Having Anina, Bruce, Cory and Scoble all in a radius of 2m during fondue leaves but one impression: I'm not impressed (but by Cory, who remains a role-model of integrity, heck), so I went having a Campari Orange on my own, sitting in my best suit in a club with heavy green armchairs, a dark red carpet and a singing blonde pianist behind a white grand piano - but still.
I know that a conference is nothing but a temporary spatial medium, but that chatter is so tiring..
Oh, and please note I'm not complaining, actually :)
