Switzerland's #1 Blog

By hannes @ 22:29 [ Social ]
I've been thinking for a while that Gregor's Blog, which according to him is the longest running in Switzerland, was the most visited, too. But now Alain linked to the Greg's Stats, and comparing the numbers to those of the Bitflux Blog, the winner seems to be obvious: 26902 vs. 50262 visits for May 2004. I'm not shure what other blogs might qualify for Switzerland's most visited blog (Urs? Nicolas? Probably not), Michael Genova could be candidate.. any others?

maybe www.sozialinformatik.ch ? that one got chosen for "nr 1 community blog" or something like that on a german-page... i think though, too, that it's propably bitflux... Grüess, Alain.

Ich denke nicht, dass ein rein deutschsprachiges Weblog da gewinnen kann.

Well, I don't think my blog could be qualified as the most visited in switzerland, it could rather be weblogger.ch (my friend roberto !)

@Nicolas: I just wanted to use the occasion to link to you, because I do like your weblog very much, although I know that what I like is not what gets most hits :)
For Weblogger: I still don't think that a french or german blog can win this competition.. do you have any numbers about Roberto's blog?

I think you can number using alexa: you type the url in a9.com and then you click on website info...

Hi all,
weblogger.ch has monthly 35-40'000 unique visitors. according with Hannes, i don't think that a german or a french blog could be the Switzerland's most visited blog, maybe climbtothestars.org (french/english blog)...

Roberto: Steph says she only has about 250 visitors per day.

If ln -s (http://symlink.ch) qualifies as a weblog (it probably does), it could well be the most visited (http://www.symlink.ch/webalizer/)..

When did Gregor start his blog? The site gives me a timeout so I can't check myself; according to archive.org his domain has been there since August 2000. Perhaps his blog is older than that? My blog has been running since June 20, 2000, although I changed servers (sometime in 2001, I think). See e.g. http://web.archive.org/web/20010808013756/www.bccweb.ch/mwo/content/blog.html and at its new location http://gutfeldt.ch/matthias/blog/singleblog.php?entry=961527600

But of course, age says nothing about quality, or popularity. According to Webalizer, my blog had only about 217 unique visitors in August 2004. Numbers for http://blog.ch/ are somewhat better, of course :-).

Hello,

I saw your post via ifeedyou.

Maybe (just maybe) I qualify.

I have 4 blogs under the textually.org umbrella (BUT they are hosted in the US,
and are wirtten in English - but I live in Switzerland). Total for 4 blogs for the
month of August was 724'676 page views.

Best

Emily

Blog.bitflux.ch delivered 391796 pages during the month of June. Multiply that by four.. :-)

This article is very helpful. I have been reading all kinds of articles about debt settlement and this one is like the light bulb that turns everything on because the arithmetic makes debt settlement very logical and puts inflation in the right perspective. Thanks!

One afternoon, I was in the backyard hanging the laundry when an old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. But when I walked into the house, he followed me, sauntered down the hall and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back. He resumed his position in the hallway and slept for an hour.
This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap. "
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with ten children - he's trying to catch up on his sleep."

I cried from laughter
